Michigan Medicaid Implements Fee Reductions

April 14, 2005 - The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has implemented a 4% reduction in the 2005 anesthesia conversion factor for dates of service on and after May 1, 2005. The state agency has cited budget shortfalls as the reason behind fee reductions for specific providers under Medicaid.

The 2005 anesthesia conversion factor was $10.92. It has been reduced to approximately $10.48.

"Due to the need to achieve significant savings during the current fiscal year, the public comment portion of the policy promulgation process is being conducted concurrently with the implementation of the reductions," reported the MSA Bulletin, a publication of MDCH.
