April 14, 2005 -
The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has implemented a 4%
reduction in the 2005 anesthesia conversion factor for dates of service on and
after May 1, 2005. The state agency has cited budget shortfalls as the reason
behind fee reductions for specific providers under Medicaid.
The 2005 anesthesia conversion factor was
$10.92. It has been reduced to approximately $10.48.
"Due to the need to achieve
significant savings during the current fiscal year, the public comment portion
of the policy promulgation process is being conducted concurrently with the
implementation of the reductions," reported the
MSA Bulletin,
a publication of MDCH.
