Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) will update its reimbursement
fee schedules, effective July 1, 2005. The largest health care insurance carrier in Michigan will make changes to fees in the following three areas:
1) For services provided to select members, maximum
reimbursement amounts will be adjusted to reflect an average 2% increase in
physician fee schedule conversion factors.
2)For all relative value unit-price
procedures, BCBSM will begin using the 2005 Medicare Resource-based Relative
Value Scale. Fees are currently priced using the 2004 values.
3) BCBSM will raise the conversion factor
per unit amount for all professional anesthesia services by $2 in East Michigan
and $1.50 in West Michigan. The following chart details actual per unit amounts
from 2002 to 2005:
