2008
Conversion Factors by Geographic Locality
January 9, 2008 –
Congress passed legislation to increase 2008 Medicare
payments through June 30, 2008. Effective January 1, 2008, the national
unadjusted anesthesia conversion factor will be $19.9698, reflecting full
implementation of the 32% increase in the anesthesia work value. The new law also authorizes
an additional 1.5% bonus for Medicare Physical Quality Reporting Activities (PQRI)
through the end of 2008*. Significant cuts in Medicare payments are still
expected to go into effect in July, unless Congress moves to thwart them.
These rates will be effective January 1, 2008
through June 30, 2008:
